Homes for Cathy: the impact of housing allocation schemes

25 Jun 2025
The fringe festival stage - Open to all
This session will address the challenges posed by the postcode lottery in housing allocation schemes and the impact of debt on access to social housing, which are significant barriers for individuals with a history of homelessness. Speakers will explore the need for flexible eligibility criteria that tackle the structural barriers faced by those with a background of homelessness. The discussion will also highlight the role of partnerships between local authorities and housing associations in improving housing allocations, easing pressures on temporary accommodation, and fulfilling statutory housing duties.
