Case study: Community-led Housing: Interim findings from Co-operation in Social Housing Commission
New consumer standards and declining resident satisfaction are putting the relationship between landlord and resident under scrutiny. Building on 50 years of supporting community led housing and as a registered social landlord, CDS has led the Cooperation in Social Housing Commission in supporting five live pilot projects working to establish genuine community-led practices within social housing. This session will delve into the findings, and how to go beyond conventional resident engagement, and share power without the challenges of full tenant management.
Delegates will leave with:
An understanding of collaborative governance models, their potentials and pitfalls, and how they fit within Housing Providers existing regulatory and governance structures.
A clear sense of the fundamental requirements for sustainable co-operation and how to make this a win-win for landlords and tenants.
Practical insight into the barriers to co-operation including legal responsibility, capacity questions and historical relationships.
