This practical session will focus on how housing providers can improve access to residents' homes for inspections, safety checks and essential works, while recognising that a resident's property is first and foremost their home. It will draw on real-world experience to explore what works in practice and how teams can strengthen engagement with residents to make access easier and more collaborative. Refusing access can prevent repairs or safety checks from being carried out, making effective engagement essential. Delegates will gain insight into: The most common causes of access challenges in social housing The resident perspective, including privacy, trust and why some residents may feel hesitant about allowing access into their homes Approaches that improve resident engagement and build trust Practical strategies to increase successful access rates and reduce delays, while respecting tenants' rights and circumstances
