The Fringe Festival Stage - open to all
Temporary accommodation (TA) is designed as a short-term solution, but in practice many individuals and families experience extended stays that highlight the limitations of the current system. This session will examine the operational, financial, and policy drivers behind TA use, and discuss what dignity, safety, and effective prevention could look like within existing constraints. Participants will explore practical approaches for improving the TA experience, strengthening prevention pathways, and enabling councils, charities, and housing providers to reduce reliance on temporary solutions. The session encourages a sector-wide reflection on how temporary accommodation is designed, delivered, and measured.
