James joined Sovereign as Head of External Affairs in March 2023, having previously led corporate communications and engagement across housing associations, a plc specialist housing developer, and trade bodies. Before moving into housing and development communications he was a Whitehall press officer, and had led communications for an addiction charity. James was recently a postgraduate student at the University of Cambridge's Institute for Sustainability Leadership where he undertook research into barriers to sustainability action by boards, and into collaboration to improve institutional investment into sustainable housing.
